Network Requirements
LAN
As specified before, POS terminals (POS machines or mobile devices) and network printers in a particular branch should be connected to the same Local Area Network (LAN).
We recommend to assign static IP addresses for network printers (ethernet or wifi) and let DHCP assign IP addresses for POS terminals (tablets / phones or POS machines). So we recommend to follow the below steps in configuring IP addresses of printers and terminals.
Step 1: Define DHCP range to be part of IP range
Ex: Let’s say, Default gateway : 192.168.1.1 Subnet : 255.255.255.0 DHCP range : 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.240
Step 2: Identify all devices with the requirement to assign static IP addresses and assign static IPs away from the DHCP range.
Ex: Printer 01 (192.168.1.241) Printer 02 (192.168.1.242) Some other device (192.168.1.245)
Step 3: Configure POS terminals to ask IP from DHCP (this is the default configuration in almost all mobile devices unless manually changed)
WiFi Strength
If Mobile Terminals are expected to be connected through wifi, you need to check whether you have enough wifi signal strength at the furthest point from the wifi antenna (router or access point) that the mobile device would be carried during business operations.
Internet Connection Speed
Internet speeds above 10Mbps are recommended for trouble free usage of POS app and back-office.
4G or above mobile connection is preferred in case the connection is Mobile
